How much should I budget for wedding flowers?

Wedding flowers Yorkshire

A guide for couples who want natural, characterful wedding flowers designed with care

If you’re planning your wedding and wondering how much to spend on flowers, you’re not alone. It’s one of the most searched wedding questions, and one of the hardest to answer with a single number. But if you’re here, I’m guessing you’re not just looking for “a few bouquets.” You want your flowers to feel personal. Thoughtful. Like they were meant to be there all along.

And that’s where a realistic floral budget comes in.

So, how much should I expect to spend on wedding flowers?

If you’re working with a skilled, professional wedding florist who specialises in bespoke, natural arrangements and want your flowers to cover all aspects of your wedding day from personal items to your wedding reception, a budget of £2,000 or more is a good place to start. This allows for meaningful, seasonally inspired work, not just a checklist of items, but floral design that’s tailored to your venue, your story, and your priorities.

I’ve designed delicate and wildly romantic flowers for weddings across Yorkshire. From crumbling country houses to marquee wedding, and what makes them feel memorable is never how many flowers there are. It’s the way they’re chosen and placed: with care, character, and a deep respect for the setting.

What influences the cost of wedding flowers?

Just like your dress or your photographer, the cost of flowers isn’t just about what you get, it’s about the quality, time, skill and intention behind it.

Here’s what’s included in a floral design-led service:

The design itself

You’re paying for more than flowers, you’re investing in ideas, experience, and creative problem-solving. A good florist doesn’t copy Pinterest, they translate your vision into something honest and original.

Seasonal availability

Our floral designs at Wild Sweet Pea area are seasonally-led, and we use local Yorkshire growers to help achieve this.

Choosing in-season flowers makes everything feel more natural (and they’re often at their best, too). Imported blooms or out-of-season stems can push the price up.

Labour and logistics

Behind every floral arrangement is a team who’s been prepping days ahead and up since dawn, sourcing, prepping, arranging, and delivering. And on the day, we’re there with buckets, ladders, and shears, building something that looks effortless but takes hours to perfect

Impact and intention

Something we can’t shout louder about if we tried - It’s not about volume. It’s about the right flower in the right place. A floral design that looks show-stopping in one venue might not work in the other. One show-stopping design can be far more impactful than several average designs spread around your venue without any meaning or intention.

So, what might £2,000 include?

Every wedding is different, but to give you a rough idea, this budget might cover:

  • A hand-picked, one-of-a-kind naturally styled bridal bouquet

  • Bridesmaids’ bouquets

  • Buttonholes for the wedding party

  • A characterful ceremony focal point like an urn, meadows, or a broken archway

  • Delicate table flowers for around 8 tables

  • Delivery, setup, and next-day collection

If you’re dreaming of something larger-scale, like an entrance installation, hanging feature, or abundant florals across multiple spaces, you’re likely looking at £3000-£4000.

“But I’m not really a flower person…”

Even if flowers aren’t your top priority, they’ll be in almost every photo, wedding flowers truly transform a room, set the tone of the day and help create the atmosphere you want to create.

From your walk down the aisle to your speeches and first dance. Investing in florals designed with thought means those photos will feel intentional, natural, and like you, not just like a styled setup.

It’s not just about cost. It’s about value.

At Wild Sweet Pea, we don’t do cookie-cutter arrangements or filler-heavy florals. Our work is rooted in character, season, and story. So while £2,000 our my minimum spend, what you’re getting is more than stems. you’re getting someone who sees flowers as part of the fabric of your day, who sources the best quality, locally grown flowers, who creates abundant and breathtaking floral arrangements like you’ll never have experienced in your life before.

“We knew the flowers would be absolutely stunning, but they were so much more than we could have ever imagined.”

That’s what a recent couple said, and to me, that’s the point.
